When the creators of this restaurant brought their concept for an eatery all the way from Sao Paolo, they imported more than the original Barbacoa's menu and name - they scooped up heaps of the festive Carnival spirit and smuggled out when the security guards were on siesta. For this reason, Barbacoa is fun.
Visitors to this spacious wood interior basement locale are seated at tables with accompanying marble serving blocks where the wait staff, known as Passador, slice 18 varieties of grilled meat off skewers in a Brazilian style of cuisine called Churrasco. The house favorites are the tender Picanha rump roast and the Cupim shoulder cut which is flown in specially from Brazil (tastes great with lime). There is even a delectable grilled pineapple.
Though Barbacoa specializes in grilled meats, they also serve up one of the city's best salad bars. The salad bar set is only Yen 2,400 and insures that even vegetarians will walk away satisfied.
The menu caters to the all-you-can-eat crowd (with no time limit!) and during lunch time there are sets from Yen 930. The Viking dinner menu offers eat-till-you're-done Churrasco sets at Yen 3,300, which come with Pao De Queijo cheese bread, Feijoada black beans, and other sides. Great touches, and one of the things that makes Barbacoa worth a special trip. For a little extra, there are all-you-can-drink sets too. You haven't lived till you've partied with a bottomless glass of Caipirinha in your hand.
