Its Spanish for castle. If youre a king of the disco, this is your royal home away from home. The walls and ceiling light up like a Christmas tree (yes, even in the summerroyals can have Christmas any time they want) and tinsel catches the reflection of twirling colored lights through smoke machine fog.
"On really good nights, the manager comes in with a reindeer cap on his head and we all wear costumes," says Skin, a waiter from Birmingham, England. "The staff are serious, but we like to have a laugh with the guests," he explains.
But these vassals cannot allow just any serf to enter the no-cover- kingdom of cool. "We maintain a peaceful, non-aggressive bar with an international crowd," says another waiter from Mexico.
And once visitors have made it past the security moat, they can quaff one of many fine libations like the Sea Breeze, Margarita and the driest Martini this side of the Sahara. If they are in the sporting mood, they can then joust on the table football or revel to the 70s, 80s, and 90s dance hits pumped out by the DJ from a selection of 30,000 vinyl platters. Court jester Chaka Khan always comes here to bust a move on the dance floor when she is in town.
At Castillo the guests are really treated like royalty with a painted portrait mural on one wall of 120 regulars. And if you are a cigar aficionado, then you will enjoy a Romeo and Julieta from Havana for only ¥900. But get there early before the palace gets packed and the drawbridge lifts up.
