kama aina
kati
by Andreas Stuhlmann

Kama Aina (Takuji Aoyagi) employs various string and percussion instruments, as well as background noises to create acoustic, fragile, and very “real” soundscapes, that hopefully don’t disappear in the “post rock” drawer that’s becoming bigger and vaguer with every band thrown in. This deserves a little more attention than that. As titles for the six regular tracks (the CD includes one bonus track) on “Kati” Kama Aina chose the names of actresses, and comparing the characteristics of the pieces with those of Ana Torrent, Yelle Rottelander, Karen Mok, Cecilia Ros, Kati Oudien and Gena Rowlands makes up half of the fun of this rather short but beautiful album.
