"Pocket Orchestra" is what they call this outfit with the strange trio line-up featuring DJ Quest (a.k.a. Carlos Aguilar, member of the famed Space Travelers/ Bulletproof Scratch Hamsters DJ crew), multi-percussionist and trap drummer Albert Matthias, and acoustic bassist Andrew Kushin. And, believe it or not, these guys rock like hell! After their first album in 1997, Livehuman signed up under London’s Fat Cat label, where they released a 12" and their second full-length stroke "Monostereosis: The New Victrola Method." Album No. 3, out since July on Matador, offers another full hour of music that couldn’t be any more entertaining. The base ingredient of Live Human’s hybrid power drug is instrumental hip hop, but they spice it up with so many flavors that jazz, jam, funk, dub, breakbeat, and even ambient lovers get their treat. Ten out of ten points for originality, ten for variety, ten for musical performance, and ten for the incredible amount of energy Elefish Jellyphant releases.
