Once you step in, you might feel as though you have phase- shifted to Bangkok.
This chic Asian dining spot offers you cozy and colorful surroundings in
which to enjoy their unique Asian dishes. Check the event schedule.
With years of experience at a Thai restaurant, CAY's chef has successfully
combined a wide range of Asian food for the sophisticated Tokyoite. Each
dish is neatly decorated and totally different from what you might find
at a Bangkok street stall, but still you can feel the authenticity and the
scent of truly Asian taste with a whiff of humid air about them. Pick up
appetizers, soup, salad, and main course one by one, to organize your own
meal to set up a prefect environment for a delightful time. Steamed Chicken
& Fresh Mango with Sesame Sauce (¥1,200) or Stewed Lobster with
Coconut Milk (¥3,500) will be exotic enough to impress your date.
Or, if you're just with a group of your friends and on a budget, go for
the Thai Curry (green or red ¥1,400-1,800) and Steamed Rice with Coconut
Milk (¥600).
You can also hang out at their mistically-lit bar with hundreds of cocktails
and liquors.
But don't get the wrong impression here! CAY is much, much more than just
a classy restaurant. It doubles as a spacious live house with walls full
of graffiti by such visitors as Basquiat and Yoko Ono, who seem to have
had a good time here since CAY opened its doors in 1985. This must also
have something to do with CAY's impressively good-quality audio facilities,
which enable bands from all genres to play even groovy tunes with a heavy
bass sound.
In December, CAY will offer a spate of events. Starting with a Keltic Christmas
live, with ALT and SOLAS's, on Dec. 4 and 5, there will be more than two
events a week. Caribbean Christmas on Dec. 20, with Sister Kaya, Raggamatix,
etc., will offer a great chance to feel a tropical Christmas season with
their hot and energetic sounds.
Anyway, keep yourself updated on what's happening there, and check out the
many celebrities' scrawlings with your own eyes. You might be able to find
drawings of your favorite hot-shots, whom you have been dreaming of.
