Tatou Tokyo

“End of war, time to rest, time to play!” heralds the angel, blowing on the tatou (French for horn). Thus aptly named, it’s only natural that the Tatou Tokyo, styled after the New York Tatou, beckons its guests with promises of quality time. The huge, romantically lit dining area would make the designers of the Titanic blush with envy. A large stage alternately functions as giant screen for classic movies, or is occupied by a pianist whose subdued
melodies act as little fountains to soothe the diners, providing the appropriate ambiance for couples who come here to enjoy an evening of luxury and international taste.

Opened in 1995, the Tatou Tokyo quickly made a name for itself as the venue of choice for sophisticated events and for unforgettable dining experiences. Mind you, the Tatou didn’t just stumble into its place. It was custom-built and styled after its elder brother in New York. The interior is designed so that the dining area opens up to a third-floor ceiling, putting many an opera house to shame. In fact, it is the opera house-like atmosphere that makes the Tatou a popular choice for wedding parties, as it seats up to 270 but can pack in as many as 700 with standing room only.

Prices can compete with any 5-star hotel, and the food is prepared under the tutelage of a chef who learned his craft in California. For a cover charge, diners can opt for one of the booths and enjoy more intimate seating. After the meal, don’t miss the walk up the red-carpeted stairs for a moment of relaxation in the Opera Lounge before you head home.
